R Beckett news

We’re down to a team of four on the final day of Royal Ascot after Kinross was withdrawn from the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee due to the quick ground.

TASK FORCE is our main hope in the Jersey, dropping in grade after being beaten less than seven lengths in a strong renewal of the 2000 Guineas. Our horses hadn’t quite hit form at the time plus he’s a late foal, so there are good reasons to think he can step forward from that run. He’s been training well, this is his ground and I don’t have any qualms about dropping him to seven furlongs.

He’ll be joined in the race by ZOUM ZOUM, who is one of the outsiders but deserves to take his chance. He was a disappointing favourite at Epsom last time but a line can be put through that run as he didn’t handle the track.

The same comment applies to our two runners in the Golden Gates, TREASURE and WHISKEY PETE, both of whom should find this course more to their liking. The filly got upset before the Oaks and hopefully the first-time cheekpieces will be of benefit to her.
